I took 3 shirts to Sterling cleaners since they had small stains on them that I did not trust that I could get out on my own. I decided to go to this location since I had just moved into the neighborhood and decided to give it a try rather than driving farther away to my old cleaners.
These stains were not mystery stains nor should they have been challenging to clean but of the 3 shirts taken in, only 1 of them came back clean. Not only that, but I was charged over $30 for three t-shirts!
When I questioned the amount charged, I was told there was nothing the associate could do and that I could speak with a manager. I called the manager and he told me that they would not re-consider the amount charged since they tried to get the stains out. As a side note the stains looked the same or worse than they did prior to me taking the shirts into the cleaners.
Anyway, I told the manager that I was unhappy with the service, the price charged and that they were called a dry cleaner - not a dry "try"er. He told me that I could bring my garments in to have them tried again and he offered a terrible analogy about a doctor's office and how I wouldn't be upset with a doctor if they tried to help me and couldn't and I would not complain about the price I was charged at that time.
A few days later I returned from a business trip and called the cleaners back to see how to go about "turning" my garments in to get re-cleaned and I spoke with a female associate who was very nice and wanted to credit my account and told me she would speak with the manager about refunding me since I told her I felt uneasy about taking credit and trusting them with other garments of mine. She understood and said she would have the manager call me the next day.
When 5pm came and went, I called to speak with the manager regarding the credit/reimbursement from the day prior. He could not recall our previous conversation nor did he seem to think that my note was important enough to call back when I mentioned my conversation with his employee from the day before. He offered me the credit but when I asked for some confirmation of the credit he began yelling at me for wasting his time. I asked him how I was supposed to trust his word for the credit when I already trusted them to clean my garments and they had not done so. He said their system didn't allow them to print out credits so I asked if he could write the credit on a piece of paper and fax it to me as then I would have something in writing to trust that I was given the credit if I ever decided to return with a garment to clean. He yelled at me that he wouldn't dare do that - it would be a waste of his time, he wouldn't allow any of his associates to do it either and that I was just going to have to trust him.
I referenced the conversation with the female employee and he yelled at me again and hung up on me. Furious, I called back and questioned his customer service. He said he was not from the country and I said that his country of origin shouldn't matter, I am a customer and he is being disrespectful by yelling at me and hanging up on me. I asked about the female employee, to see if maybe she was there to speak with since she was much nicer on the phone and he yelled at me that she wasn't there and why do I care where she is...then he began yelling at me for wasting his time again.
He answered the other line while pausing from the yelling and I told him that I didn't appreciate how he was treating me, I am clearly upset about my ruined clothes and he is not respecting me as a customer. I asked for his last name and he refused to give it to me. Again I asked his name and about the credit and he yelled at me once more. He said that if I was that unhappy with my clothing then he suggested I don't take the credit and that I should go elsewhere for my cleaning. I asked once more for his name and if he belonged to the better business bureau which as you can tell he does so here I am ranting about this terrible cleaner, this terrible service and this terrible man!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They claim to be fine professional cleaners and they are neither!
