JUST A BUSINESS AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE; IT'S THE MONEY...
|
In October of 2011 my I was scheduled for cataract surgery on the first eye. Just a few days before the scheduled surgery the doctor's office called to inform me that I had to bring $500 in with me to cover the cost of the as yet unmet annual deductible from my Aetna Medicare policy. That puzzled me as it had never occurred before with other medical practices. So I called Aetna and they informed me that Dr. Phillips' practice of demanding upfront deductible payment was, indeed, rare and certainly not customary. Dr. B. Phillips is the owner of the practice. I appealed the decision and was informed that it was set in stone even though the office rep who called sympathized with my position. I therefore cancelled the surgery preferring to deal with a doctor's practice which was more medically ethical and less a crass business operation. I am willing to identify myself should trustlink demand an identity to support this review. I have been a patient with Inland for over 4 years.
