Incompetence is an Understatement
|
I was offered a six-month consulting position in January. Hire Right was the firm engaged to perform a background check for me. When I first saw my report, it contained much incorrect information. For just one example, several of my previous employers were designated "N/A" for their names. I did not and never would have entered "N/A" as the name of a former employer.
Depending on whom I spoke with at Hire Right, I got conflicting and often contradictory information. I called them after my email attempts to update the mistakes with correct information failed. For example, one support representative straight out said that Hire Right uses a third part to collect information, while another representative said Hire Right does all the work and never uses third parties for information. I could go on for several more paragraphs about my unfortunate experience.
Ultimately, the company requesting the background report withdrew their offer.
I am seriously considering taking the matter up with a lawyer. I have noticed that others have suggested a class action suit. This individual may well be on to something.
